Odyssey of the Mind Team Introductory Experience

Description

Odyssey of the Mind Creative Competition Teams are for Montgomery students interested in creativity, teamwork, performance, invention, and problem-solving.

Students begin with a 3-session introductory experience for creative 1st–5th graders ready to try zany brain challenges, teamwork games, storytelling, design, and quick-thinking problem-solving — with the option to audition for a team that competes with students from across Georgia.

Students will practice:

  • Creative problem-solving
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Spontaneous thinking games
  • Storytelling and performance
  • Design, invention, and crafting
  • Turning ideas into a shared solution

Returning Student?
You are strongly encouraged to attend the after-school sessions, but only the audition is needed if you want to be considered for a competition team.

This will be Montgomery’s 5th year offering Odyssey of the Mind. The program has a strong track record, with nearly every 3rd–5th grade competition team advancing to Georgia State Finals and two teams qualifying for World Finals.

Because team placement requires auditions, the introductory sessions give students a fun, lower-pressure way to explore creative games and challenges before the full season begins. The full competition season is a bigger commitment, with 24 sessions across 6 months — including 12 Wednesday after-school practices and 12 weekend team practices.
