Lunch Buddies

When you volunteer as a Lunch Buddy, you’re giving our wonderful teachers a relaxing and well-deserved lunch break. Nearly every day of the school year, we need parents (or grandparents!) to volunteer their time in their cafeteria. If every parent participates at least once, we can fill the schedules each week!

What is a Lunch Buddy?

An adult family member (parent, grandparent, or guardian) who volunteers to help in the cafeteria. Just 1+ time per year between 10 AM–12 PM makes a big difference!

Responsibilities

  • Help students open packages & navigate the cafeteria
  • Ensure safety and positive behavior
  • Light cleaning (wipe tables, tidy up)

When & Where

  • Check-in: 9:50 AM at the front office → then head to the cafeteria
  • Shift: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (covers multiple grade lunch times)
  • Supplies provided: aprons, gloves, wipes/paper towels

FAQ Highlights

  • Do I bring anything? Nope — everything is provided.
  • How do I know if a child needs help? Students raise hands; circulate to assist.
  • What about restroom breaks? Encourage waiting until after lunch. If needed, send with a buddy (for Kindergarteners).
  • End of shift? Return apron, check out at the front office.
  • Need to cancel/change your shift? Update in SignUpGenius or arrange a replacement.

Students love seeing their parents at school — it’s quick, fun, and so appreciated!
