Volunteering at Montgomery

From Lunch Buddies to Cultural Events to Health & Wellness to Parent Party planning and so much more — our school is powered by amazing parent volunteers. If you’ve been thinking about getting involved (even just a little!), we’d love to help you find a role that fits your interests!

Volunteering is flexible—there’s a spot for every schedule, from one-time help to year-round committee positions. Find your fit below.

One-Time Open Opportunities

Winter Morning Carpool

We need adults to help with morning carpool door-opening at the front of school on chilly mornings! When it is under 40 degrees outside, safety patrol students are not able to open car doors and help keep the kids safe, so parent volunteers are needed during winter morning carpool. Carpool runs from 7:05-7:40am, but any amount of time you volunteer during that window is helpful. Sign up below to volunteer for the months of December - February. Even if slots are full, if it is under 40 degrees outside, please feel free to show up and lend a hand!

PTO School Committees

We have a wide variety of committees that help out around the school. Volunteering with committees can be a one-time thing, a once a month thing, or as-needed! Please fill out this Google form so we can help you find a good match for your volunteering interests!

Lunch Buddies Volunteers

When you volunteer as a Lunch Buddy, you’re giving our wonderful teachers a relaxing and well-deserved lunch break. Nearly every day of the school year we need four parents to volunteer at least one hour of their time in their cafeteria. Just 1+ time per year between 10 AM–12 PM makes a big difference! Lunch Buddy duties include helping students open packages & navigate the cafeteria, ensuring safety and positive behavior, light cleaning (wiping tables, tidying up), and being a friendly presence in the lunchroom.

PBIS/Mustang Buck Cart Volunteers

The Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Committee would like to invite Parent volunteers to assist with our PBIS Mustang Bucks Store and Rewards.

Mustang Bucks are earned by students based on their positive behavior and being on their Mustang BEST each day. Students have an opportunity to redeem their Mustang Bucks every three weeks with our mobile Mustang Buck cart.

We need parent volunteers to help the run the mobile cart on select days. It's easy and fun! Simply count/collect the Mustang Bucks and allow students to select a reward from the cart. The cart is pre-labeled with Mustang Buck prices and stocked with prizes.

Level 3 Volunteers

What is a Level 3 Volunteer?

Level 3 Volunteers complete a brief training, go through a background check, and receive an official badge through the Dekalb County School District (DCSD) Department of Safety Office.

Why does the county have a Level 3 Volunteer process?

It was created by our Board of Education to better ensure student safety in situations where a school staff member is not present.

Do I have to be a Level 3 volunteer to help out at our school?

Most volunteering at our school does NOT require Level 3.

You will need to become a Level 3 volunteer for these roles:

  • Field trip chaperone

  • School club volunteer

  • Any other school-related activities where school staff may not be present

What if I already went through the Level 3 process?

Your training and background check are good for three years. You do have to renew your badge each year. Please read below for how to renew!
